Lufthansa Senator Lounge, Dubai International (DXB)
Lufthansa operates its own lounge in Dubai, a Senator Lounge, only for passengers with a Star Alliance Gold Card or those who are travelling in first class with Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, or any other airline in the Star Alliance. Passengers travelling in business class without a gold card must refer to a third party lounge.
The Senator Lounge in Dubai is fairly small and, with a capacity of 60 guests, can get pretty full before evening departures to Europe. The lounge is located in terminal 1, next to gate C26.
The lounge has been completely renovated, receiving Lufthansa’s new lounge design, before re-opening in autumn 2011. It has a rather elegant design, a modern and stylish interior consisting of mostly bright colours combining with beige and light brown chairs and armchairs. According to Lufthansa’s Lounge manager, Lufthansa deliberately chose the colours and design to create a softer atmosphere. The black chairs that were previously here gave the lounge a rather dark and serious feel. One of the walls in the lounge has also been decorated brightly with a depiction of a Lufthansa Airbus A380.
Eating and Drinking
The range of food and drink is perfectly acceptable for such a small lounge. On offer were several kinds of sandwiches, some simple hot food, snacks and treats. In addition, there was a full range of beverages, including beer, wine, various spirits, soft drinks, tea and a fancy coffee machine.
Next to the self-service buffet there is a small restaurant area with bar tables and bar stools.
There is free WiFi throughout the lounge with the password available at the front desk. There are local and international newspapers and magazines in a rack. Toilets are located at the back of the lounge.
A pretty small lounge, but a stylish interior and a fully acceptable range of food and drink given its size. It does get crowded during evenings due to night depatures to Europe.
