The Stafford London has reopened its much-loved American Bar. Following a stunning refurbishment, the American-style cocktail bar now offers an intriguing Mediterranean menu and an innovative new cocktail list inspired by the local St James’s area.
As one of the few remaining exclusive American-style watering holes in the capital, The Stafford London’s renewed bar has always provided patrons with a lively atmosphere, quality service and old-school style.
The new interiors look to have enhanced its appeal even more. Created by Rosendale Design, the bar now features a lavish marble bar complemented by mahogany panelling, emerald green upholstery, vintage glassware and brass fittings.
A sense of authenticity has been preserved with walls adorned with signed photographs from the hotel’s famous guests and a unique collection of artefacts gifted to the hotel over the years.
Bar Manager Benoit Provost, who has worked at The Stafford for 25 years, has overseen the evolution of the bar. A notable upgrade is the new cocktail list, which has been inspired by the unknown stories of the hotel and the quirky streets that surround it.
For example, ‘The Godolphin’ is a mouthwatering mix of Woodford Reserve, red wine infused with berries and cinnamon, lemon juice and egg white. It is in honour of the nobleman, courtier and philanthropist Francis Godolphin, who died in the house that stood on the site of The Stafford’s Carriage House.
Culinary Director Ben Tish is the man behind the exciting menu at the American Bar. It features a selection of dishes inspired by the food of Italy and Spain, including light bites and decadent feasts perfect for sharing with companions.
Additionally, British charcuterie from Cannon & Cannon and freshly made sandwiches will be served alongside snacks such as Spring pea croquettes with truffle aioli and Chorizo and piquillo skewers with marjoram.
The hotel’s private cobbled courtyard is as pristine as ever. It makes an ideal spot for lunch on a warm day in the city. Here, guests will also be able to enjoy the new menus al fresco alongside a selection of chargrilled specials from the BBQ.
