Singapore Airlines’ new A380 service between London and Singapore launched earlier this week, with an inauguration ceremony held at Heathrow on Friday morning.
The celebration, which coincided with the Chinese New Year, entailed a light show and dragon dance (it’s now the year of the dragon) before the superjumbo A380 took off from London towards Singapore.
The aircraft features Singapore Airlines’ new cabin products – including the revolutionary First Suites, complete with double bed and leather armchair – which were unveiled in early November and debuted in December on flights to Sydney.
New economy, premium economy and business class cabins are also available on the new superjumbo service. You can read more about these products here.
The new service will initially operate under flight number SQ322 from Singapore to London on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
In the opposite direction it will operate under flight number SQ305 until April 5, when it will change over to flight number SQ317. Flights will depart on Mondays, Thursday and Saturdays.
From today, the A380 has also been deployed on services to Hong Kong, with flights departing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays as SQ860 (Singapore-Hong Kong) and SQ863 (Hong Kong-Singapore). Additional destinations are due to be revealed in the near future, according to Singapore Airlines.
