Bidvest Premier Lounge, Johannesburg O.R Tambo International (JNB), International Terminal
Bidvest Premier Lounge is the largest third-party lounge at Johannesburg O.R Tambo Airport. The lounge is located in the international transit hall, one floor above the transit area. Coming from check-in area B, the entrance is located directly to the left and is accessed by elevator or stairs.
The lounge is, like I said, quite large and is divided into several sections with seating areas. The decor is mostly white, chairs are in burgundy and black and the tables and shelves in mahogany or dark brown wood. The lounge interior is neat and well looked after, but otherwise quite dark and dull. The design is definitely not the lounge’s strength.
Bidvest Premier Lounge is used by more than ten airlines and is also available in conjunction with some credit cards and lounge cards. You can also pay for access at the reception.
Eating and Drinking
Although the design may not be something to cheer about, the range of food and drink is certainly an improvement. There was a good selection of hot food during my visit, including self-made burgers and chicken on skewers with pineapple. Additionally, sandwiches, snacks and treats, such as muffins, are available.
Beside the buffet is a breakfast bar with drinks for self-service. There are, of course, several South African wines, both red and white, and two large refrigerators with a number of different beers. A small selection of spirits are also available, as well as soft drinks and juices. A coffee machine and hot water for tea is on offer on a separate table.
Free Wifi is available, as well as several flat-screen TVs scattered throughout the lounge. There is also the standard range of newspapers and magazines to keep you entertained.
Other facilities include; a smoking room, toilets and showers.
The lounge is large but the design quite dark and dull, this is counter-balanced, however, by the decent choice of food and drink.
