Cathay Pacific will open its newest lounge in its hub city of Hong Kong in March.
‘The Deck’, as the flagship lounge will be known, will be located in place of the airline’s former uninspiring Dragonair lounge near Gate 16. Originally slated to open this month, the launch of the lounge has been delayed in order for the airline to put the finishing touches on the reimagined space.
Cathay Pacific has also announced that will be doing away with The Cabin business class lounge at Hong Kong airport once the newer ‘The Deck’ lounge opens. This is expected to happen in April, according to reporting from Australian Business Traveller. Cathay’s other impressive lounges at Hong Kong will remain, including The Wing, The Pier, The Bridge, and The Arrival.
A year in the making, little is known about the new lounge as of yet, but it sure to be an improvement on the previous Dragonair lounge, which had been rather lacking for some time. We do know, however, that the lounge will feature a pleasant terrace – hence the name ‘The Deck – that looks over gates 16 through to 19, while the rest of the space will feature a contemporary design concept by London-based designer Ilse Crawford.
Expect to see signature amenities such as Cathay’s The Noodle Bar, as well as some unique touches in order to afford the lounge its own identity.
