During the years 2016-2017, Carlson Rezidor will expand with another hotel on the African continent by opening the first Radisson Blu hotels in Uganda and Ghana – Radisson Blu Hotel Kampala and Radisson Blu Hotel Accra Airport, The Exchange. 

Radisson Blu Hotel Kampala will be in the Ugandan capital Kampala and will have a total of 195 rooms. The hotel is expected to open during the fourth quarter of 2016. Holiday Inn Accra Airport, The Exchange, will open in 2017 and will offer a total of 207 rooms.

We aim to establish Radisson Blu as the leading upper upscale brand in the region – present in capital cities and financial & economic hubs – and to pursue the scaled growth of Park Inn by Radisson in high potential primary and secondary destinations,” explained Wolfgang M. Neumann, President & CEO of Rezidor, on the African Hotel Investment Forum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 

Carlson Rezidor opened their first hotel in Africa in 2000, in Cape Town, South Africa. Today there are a total of 51 hotels with 11,500 rooms in 21 countries, with a regional office in South Africa. In addition to hotels in Kampala and Accra, future openings will include the Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson in Nairobi (Kenya), Kigali (Rwanda) and Cape Town (South Africa).

Also recently opened is the Radisson Blu Hotel in Maputo (Mozambique), the Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka (Zambia), and the Park Inn by Radisson Foreshore Hotel Cape Town (South Africa).
